Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to the questions parents ask us most — about accounts, approval, XP, notifications, and privacy. If yours isn't here, the Help Center will get you to a person.

Getting Started

Curio Bite is an app for teenagers aged 13–18 that delivers short, engaging cards — called Curio Bites — across a variety of subjects. The Parent Dashboard helps parents stay connected by being able to see what your child is reading and manage how we notify you.

Parent accounts help us meet age-related requirements where applicable and give you access to your child's account approval, activity summaries, and notification settings.

Visit the Parent Dashboard and sign in using the email address and password associated with your account.

Yes. You can browse up to 10 cards a day as a guest, without signing up. The country and education level you pick as a guest are saved on your device only.

Streaks, XP, the leaderboard and the Parent Dashboard need an account. To use them, or to keep reading past the daily limit, an account needs to be created.

Account

On the sign-in screen, tap "Forgot password" and enter your username. We will email you a one-time code, and that code lets you set a new password.

If you added your own email address when you signed up, the code goes to that address. If you did not add one, the code is sent to your parent or guardian's email address.

The code is valid for a short time only. If it expires, request a new one. If you are still stuck, email account@curiobite.com from the address the account is linked to.

Please check your spam or junk folder first. If you still have not received the email after a few minutes, try requesting a new code or contact our support team via account@curiobite.com.

If you need to update your email address, please contact our support team at account@curiobite.com for assistance.

Parent Approval

In some regions, parental approval is needed before a child can access certain features of Curio Bite. This helps us follow local laws and create a safer experience for young users.

You have 7 days from the moment your child signs up to approve the account. We send a reminder 2 days before deletion in case life got in the way. If the account is not approved within 7 days it expires, it can no longer be used, and we delete the data associated with it.

If you missed the window, your child can sign up again with the same username, and the 7 day window starts again. They only lose any XP and streaks from their previous sign up.

If you did not receive the approval email, check your spam folder first. Your child can correct your email address once from inside the app, which sends a fresh email and restarts the 7 days; the earlier link stops working at that point. That correction can only be made once, so if the address still needs changing, email support@curiobite.com.

XP & Streaks

XP (Experience Points) rewards teenagers for consistently engaging with Curio Bite. It helps track their activity and progress.

Your child earns XP by:

  • Reading qualifying Curio Bites
  • Maintaining daily reading streaks
  • Receiving parent account approval

More details are available on the XP & Streaks page.

A qualifying card is a Curio Bite that has been read to count toward XP. If the teen only scrolls quickly, the Curio Bite will not qualify.

Missing a day resets the current streak, but any XP already earned remains on approved accounts.

Notifications

Parents can receive optional summaries of their child's activity to stay informed about their progress.

Yes, you can manage or disable notification preferences from your Parent Dashboard.

Privacy & Safety

We collect only the information needed to provide the service, manage accounts, and support parental features. You can find full details in our Privacy Policy.

No. We do not sell personal data to third parties or share it for external advertising purposes. We may use your contact details to let you know about Curio Bite updates and our paid features.

Your child's reading activity is private and only shared with their linked parent or guardian. Their username and country are visible to other Curio Bite users on the in-app leaderboards.

You can delete your account at any time from within the app, or from our website at Delete Account if you can't log in. A parent or guardian can also delete their own account, which removes every linked child account, or delete just one child's account while leaving others untouched.

Your account is disabled immediately, so it can no longer be used to log in. We then wait 7 days before permanently deleting anything, in case the request was made by mistake. After 7 days, all personal data — profile, reading history, XP, streaks, and profile photo — is permanently deleted, and we send a confirmation email once it's done.

Yes, but only within the 7-day window. Email privacy@curiobite.com and we can restore the account. There is no self-service undo button once the 7 days have passed, and the account is permanently deleted.

They enter their username on Delete Account, and a verification code is sent to the parent or guardian's email on file instead. The parent shares that code with the child to complete the request.
